about

I was pretty proud of the home demo even though it was very sparse. I had mapped out the guitar solos and knew how it would end but Jason Martin made the song 100 times better by convincing me to have live drums instead of electronic. Where "Light From A Dying Star" ended with a delicate sadness, "Shame" finished out the album with a defiant anger. The song became a bit of an underground "hit" but luckily it's not the ONLY song I'm known for due to its success.

lyrics

I thought I would give it one more try
Seems the time was right to give my heart
You fell in love, then you changed your mind
It’s such a shame shame shame

You said you would give it one more try
That you'd give your heart just to find the one
Simply put, you don't know what you want
It's such a shame shame shame

It's darker now, black and blue set in
Vinegar and piss, all the bitterness
I feel consumed who did what to who
Christ, please change my heart

about

The Enigmatic Foe Knoxville, Tennessee

With sharp lyrics, the playful pop bite of the best of the 70s and 80s, and the kind of self-deprecation usually reserved for a Woody Allen movie, Jared Colinger's lyrics run the gamut from the joy of new love to disillusionment with the old, from wanting to like yourself to being afraid of what we have in our minds.

The new music coming in 2023.
