about

For better or for worse, we listen to songs that remind us of others. It took me two years to finally be able to listen to the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" after getting my heart crushed by a girl. It was one of OUR songs and I had originally planned to incorporate more of those song titles throughout "Songs I'll Never Hear Again" in a creative way but abandoned that quickly. "Songs I'll Never Hear Again" was the original title of this album but several friends thought it was a putdown so I chose Beautiful Liar as the summation of the themes. The song never turned out the way I wanted it to, though it has its good points. I prefer my home demo due to the structuring of the drums.

lyrics

Don’t worry baby
Everything will be alright
I took precaution so I can sleep at night
I tore the pictures, I took away your voice
I would have held you longer
but it was not your choice

Songs I’ll never hear again

What at once was special
What was yours and mine
has bruised and become tender
from distance and from time
I made you a blueprint
compiling sentiment
of songs you once sang to me
and ones to fall in love

Songs I’ll never hear again

about

The Enigmatic Foe Knoxville, Tennessee

With sharp lyrics, the playful pop bite of the best of the 70s and 80s, and the kind of self-deprecation usually reserved for a Woody Allen movie, Jared Colinger's lyrics run the gamut from the joy of new love to disillusionment with the old, from wanting to like yourself to being afraid of what we have in our minds.

The new music coming in 2023.
