about

I became a die-hard fan of Joy Electric back in 2004 when Ronnie Martin toured through TN promoting his Hello Mannequin album. I KNEW about JE back in 1998 but preferred the melancholy pop/rock of his brother, Jason Martin's band, Starflyer 59. I played TOM Fest in 2007 which Joy Electric would headline, so I decided to cover "The Boy Who Never Forgot" in my set. Ronnie found out and had me play it for him at his merch booth; just me and my guitar sitting next to him. I was FLOORED he asked me to do that. Afterwards he told me that was how he intended it to be played instead of how it turned out on the album. When we set out to record Beautiful Liar, I wanted Ronnie to sing on the album and thought it would be a smashing idea to include "BWNF". I begged him to sing it or at least do a verse but after we started recording my vocals, he said my vox were more than enough.

about

The Enigmatic Foe Knoxville, Tennessee

With sharp lyrics, the playful pop bite of the best of the 70s and 80s, and the kind of self-deprecation usually reserved for a Woody Allen movie, Jared Colinger's lyrics run the gamut from the joy of new love to disillusionment with the old, from wanting to like yourself to being afraid of what we have in our minds.

The new music coming in 2023.
